Easier Access To Videos & Virtual Tours https://flexmls.com/flexmls-academy/product-news/easier-access-to-videos-virtual-tours/ Thu, 07 May 2020 16:45:43 +0000 https://flexmls.com/?p=3322 Continued]]>

With the increased use of virtual tours and videos to show homes, we’re excited to announce a refreshed media gallery where videos and virtual tours are built right in to all Flexmls platforms.

When Will It Change?
The rollout of this enhancement began on July 14th, 2020 and will conclude on October 21st, 2020.

Who Does This Benefit?
For agents, this change increases exposure for videos and virtual tours on listings.

What Will Change?
Currently, videos and virtual tours are available on the Photos tab in search results, but they can be difficult to locate or notice. Extra clicks are required to view videos or virtual tours.

With this change, videos and virtual tours are displayed inline with photos in a single media gallery. Any videos and virtual tours will be displayed directly after the primary photo in the filmstrip view at the bottom of the page.

Videos will be displayed with a preview image and a “play” icon. Virtual tours will be displayed with a preview image and a “360-degree view” icon.

Videos Virtual Tours

When you click through the gallery on the Photos tab, you’ll be able to play videos and virtual tours by clicking on them. Videos will typically play in place. Virtual tours will typically open in a new browser tab.

A similar media gallery will be displayed on listing detail pages in the Flexmls Pro apps for mobile devices, the Flexmls Pro mobile website, Flexmls Portal, and the Flexmls app for consumers.

Why Are We Making These Changes?
The combined media gallery makes all types of listing media equally visible to members and their clients. It also makes the experience of viewing listing media more consistent across devices and platforms.

Introducing Private Mode for Photos, Videos & Virtual Tours https://flexmls.com/flexmls-academy/product-news/introducing-private-mode-for-photos-videos-virtual-tours/ Wed, 11 Mar 2020 14:56:51 +0000 https://flexmls.com/?p=3138 Continued]]>

Photo privacy has become a hot topic in the real estate industry, and we’ve made enhancements to tackle it head-on. We’re excited to announce that soon, you will never have to delete listing photos again. We’re introducing a new option to mark photos, videos and virtual tours as private in Flexmls.

When Will It Change
These changes will become available on April 30, 2020.

Who Will Benefit
Everyone: You, your MLS, and your Homeowners!

For Agents:
You will no longer need to delete photos, videos and virtual tours to prevent them from being seen by the public. You’ll be able to mark photos as private to remove them from public view while retaining value for other members as they use listing photos to build CMAs or conduct appraisals.

For Homeowners:
Your homeowners will no longer have privacy concerns about photos of their home on the internet.

For the MLS:
This enhancement will help your MLS retain important historical records and keep listings intact. Visual media support the value of the MLS and help make the market work.

How It Works Now
Currently, listing photos, videos, and virtual tours are always visible to the public. They can be viewed anywhere the listing information is available, including consumer portals, on IDX websites, and on third-party sites such as Zillow and Realtor.com. The only way to prevent them from being seen on the internet is to remove them from a listing.

How It Will Work Soon
On April 30th, you’ll be able to mark photos, videos, and virtual tours as private, which means that they’ll be viewable by MLS members only. They will not be available to the public via the consumer portal, subscription emails, or shared links.

Marking a Photo, Video, or Virtual Tour as Private
All photos, videos, and virtual tours will be public by default. However, any member with permission to edit a listing can change the privacy setting for any media on that listing.

When editing the photos for a listing, a new, red Mark Private button will be available. To mark a photo as private, simply select the photos you want to make private and then click on the Mark Private button. (Important Note: Primary photos cannot be made private.)

Photos that have been marked Private will appear with a red outline and the label PRIVATE. Select photos and click Unmark Private to remove the Private designation.

A similar Private button will also be available on the Videos page and Virtual Tours page for a listing.

Viewing a Private Photo, Video, or Virtual Tour
When a photo, video or virtual tour has been marked private, a Private tag will be displayed when members view the media in search results. In addition, private photos will be displayed only on the private version of listing reports.

In Flexmls Pro for iOS/Android/Mobile Web, private media will also display a Private tag. Private media will not be available via the consumer portal or app.

Why Are We Making These Changes
We’ve heard from our MLS customers that photo privacy is an important consideration and that a growing number of agents are removing photos from listings to address concerns. Making photos and other listing media private helps the MLS retain important historical records while also protecting the privacy of homeowners.

Modernizing Your Flexmls Experience https://flexmls.com/flexmls-academy/product-news/modernizing-your-flexmls-experience/ Mon, 17 Jun 2019 21:56:32 +0000 https://flexmls.com/?p=703 Continued]]>

Since the start of 2019, you’ve probably noticed some changes to Flexmls. That’s because we’ve been actively refreshing and modernizing the overall look and feel. This isn’t a one-time project; it’s an ongoing journey. Our promise is to always provide you with an MLS System that works the way you do, is consistent as possible across pages and devices and looks modern and fresh. We’re excited for this year’s enhancements: a number of refreshed pages tailored to your everyday tasks, an easier to read Flexmls interface, and a squeaky clean appearance.

What Are the Benefits of This Change?

Besides the obvious overall “improved visual appeal,” the interface is being refreshed to reflect current software usability practices. This means your refreshed pages will have an updated look that will feel familiar. We will use workflow patterns, button sizes, screen layouts, and an overall experience that’s similar to other products you might encounter throughout your day. The top benefits of this refresh include:

Easier To Read: The new layouts will contain larger, more readable fonts that meet standard web accessibility guidelines which will greatly benefit the everyday user and those who are visually impaired.

Cleaner Appearance: Who doesn’t like a little breathing room? The refreshed screen layouts will have more room around page titles, buttons, and content. Screens will look less crowded, providing a better experience on all screen sizes.

Pages Tailored to You: By monitoring user data (how you use Flexmls), feedback, and research, we’ve been able to determine the most and least used features. With this data, we’re able to better tailor changes to your common, everyday tasks: Most-used items will be showcased front and center, while least-used items can still be accessed, but won’t be as prominent as the most-used items.

Responsive Design

You know that awesome feeling you get when you make your browser window smaller and everything automatically scales to size so you can still read it all? This user refresh also makes Flexmls pages more responsive for easier viewing on your smaller desktop screens, laptops, tablets, and phones!

More Than Just Good Looking, It’s Futureproof

In addition to looking better, the code has been overhauled. Why does that matter to you? Well, we won’t geek out too much here and go on and on about it. Long story short, it allows us to create and deliver new features to you faster while making the system easier to learn and interact with (for you). For those of you who might want to geek out with us: from a software perspective, one consistent, responsive product code-base decreases time to market for innovation while improving maintainability and supportability.

Why Are We Making These Changes?

Because it’s our top priority to always deliver the best user experience for you.

Privacy & Transparency of Personal Data https://flexmls.com/flexmls-academy/product-news/privacy-transparency-of-personal-data/ Fri, 05 Oct 2018 04:18:45 +0000 https://flexmls.com/?p=799 Continued]]>

Confidentiality and protection of your data, especially personal information, has always been a priority for FBS. The online world is at the start of a new era of data privacy and protection, as regulations are beginning to be prepared and enacted around the country and the globe. One such set of regulations is the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In order to address such regulations, Flexmls is introducing the following changes to the Flexmls System starting on October 18th:

  • In-app links to the Flexmls Privacy Policy
  • For consumers:
    • The ability to opt-in or opt-out of notification emails;
    • The ability to request their personal data that is stored in Flexmls;
    • The ability to request that their account be removed and all personal data deleted from Flexmls.

The changes being announced here are intended to help you, our customers, comply with privacy laws to the extent you use our software and services to collect or manage personally identifying information about your customers. Of course, as with all legal matters, you should consult with your own legal counsel on your compliance with the GDPR or any other privacy laws that may apply.

When Will It Change
This update will be available on October 18, 2018.

Who Will Be Affected
All Flexmls users and their clients will have access to these updates.

What Will Change
Your Access to the Flexmls Privacy Policy and Terms of Use
As before, you can access FBS’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use from the links at the bottom of the flexmls.com login page. In addition, you will now be able to access these links from the bottom of the My Profile page in Flexmls. Use the Menu to find and Select My Profile. Links to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use will be available at the bottom of the page. Note that the Terms of Use link will only be available for users who have purchased Flexmls IDX.

Portal: New Data Privacy Options
From inside the Portal, there will be several new Preferences available for your contacts. The location will vary by platform, but generally on the settings or preferences screen. The newest version of the Flexmls Portal is shown as an example.

To access their preferences, contacts can click their initials in the upper right and select the Preferences option.

There are several options for Messages/Notifications and Privacy: Receive Emails, Get Message Notifications by Email, Request Data, Remove Account, and Privacy Policy.

Receive Emails
This option allows the user to opt-in or out to receiving subscription updates. If the user is already receiving email updates for their subscriptions, this will be set to On. If it is currently Off, and the user toggles it to On, a notice will appear that lets them know they will receive an email that lets them opt-in to receive subscription updates via email.

Get Message Notifications by Email
When this is set to On, the user will receive an email notification whenever you respond to messages they’ve sent you from the Portal.

Request Data
If the user clicks this link, a popup will appear that lets them send you a request for their personal data that is stored in Flexmls.

After clicking Send Email, a confirmation will pop up to let them know the email has been sent. You’ll receive an email notification of the data request. The email you receive provides directions on how to get the contact’s data from Flexmls so you can send it to them.

Note: if your client is a resident of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), you will need to send them their personal data from Flexmls within 30 days of the request.

Remove Account
If the user clicks this link, a popup will appear that lets them send you a request to remove their personal information from Flexmls.

After clicking Send Email, a confirmation will pop up to let them know the email has been sent. Then you’ll receive an email of the request that provides you with a step by step walkthrough for removing them from Flexmls.

Note: if your client is a resident of the EU or EEA, you will need to remove their account from Flexmls within 30 days of the request.

Privacy Policy
If the user clicks this link, they’ll be taken to the FBS Privacy Policy page.

Why Are We Making These Changes
These changes are intended to give you and your clients better access to FBS’s Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. They also provide transparency so your clients can review the personal data that you have stored for them in Flexmls. Finally, these updates ensure that Flexmls complies with the General Data Protection Regulation, where applicable.

Flexmls Will Require Browsers To Support TLS 1.2 For Security https://flexmls.com/flexmls-academy/product-news/flexmls-will-require-browsers-to-support-tls-1-2-for-security/ Thu, 14 Jun 2018 05:45:54 +0000 https://flexmls.com/?p=840 Continued]]>

As part of FBS’s ongoing commitment to security, Flexmls will require your browser to support Transport Layer Security protocol 1.2 (TLS 1.2).

TLS 1.2 is an industry standard designed to protect the privacy of information communicated over the internet. This change might sound intimidating, but it should have no impact and require no action for the majority of users because the current versions of all the major browsers already support TLS 1.2.

When will it change?
This update will happen on July 1, 2018.

What does this mean for me?
If you already use current, up-to-date browsers and computers (or phones, tablets, and other devices), you should not even notice this change. However, older browsers may not recognize the new TLS 1.2 protocol and might have problems accessing the Flexmls System once this upgrade is in place.

How can I test my browser and computer?
To help you determine whether your browser or computer (or phone, tablet, or other device) will work with the new TLS 1.2 protocol, please click the following link to test your current browser’s capabilities: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html

If you see “Your user agent has good protocol support,” then your browser will support the upcoming changes, and there’s no action you need to take.

Note: Make sure to click on the link from every computer (or phone, tablet, or other device) and browser you use to access the Flexmls System. Testing from each computer and browser you use to access the Flexmls System is important because different browsers on the same computer (or different computers running the same browser) have different capabilities and should be tested independently.

What if one of my browsers or computers fails the compatibility test?
If the test page doesn’t report that your user agent has good protocol support, that means your browser or computer will need to be upgraded to a version that supports TLS 1.2. You can find a compatibility chart at the following web site: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/clients.html

Once your computer and browser have been updated to the most recent version, check the test page again and you should pass.

Why are we making this update?
This update is being made in response to an industry-wide move toward maintaining PCI compliance by discontinuing support for TLS 1.0/1.1 and using TLS 1.2. More information about the move to TLS 1.2 can be found here.

Big Updates for Change Listings Status & Change Listing Screens https://flexmls.com/flexmls-academy/product-news/big-updates-for-change-listings-status-change-listing-screens/ Thu, 29 Mar 2018 06:42:35 +0000 https://flexmls.com/?p=866 Continued]]>

You’re busy and you need to work anywhere, anytime that work pops up. That means your phone is your lifeline. Now your lifeline just got a little stronger when it comes to the essential, day-to-day task of changing statuses for your listings.

Start your happy dance because on April 12th you’ll be able to edit your listings’ status, price, and photos from Flexmls Pro Mobile Web and the Flexmls Pro apps. Along with these improvements, the Change Listing screens in Flexmls Web will get a new, user-friendly interface to make the experience for editing listings in Flexmls Web, Flexmls Pro Mobile Web and the Flexmls Pro Apps as consistent as possible.

When Will it Change
These updates will be available on April 12, 2018.

Who Will be Affected
All agents and brokers with the ability to edit listings will be able to access the new Change Listing screen from their mobile devices when using Flexmls Pro Mobile Web, Flexmls Pro for iOS, and Flexmls Pro for Android.

Additionally, all users with the ability to edit listings will see the new Change Listing screens in Flexmls Web.

What Will Change for Flexmls Pro

When viewing the Details for one of your listings in Flexmls Pro Mobile Web or the Flexmls Pro Apps, click Edit to go to the Change Listing screen.

The Change Listing screen operates the same way as Flexmls Web. Change your status by tapping the status you’d like to use, complete the fields, and click Save. Please note, the status change screens contain the same required fields and constraints that you find in Flexmls Web.

You can also change the List Price or add and rearrange photos from the Change Listing screen.

What Will Change for Flexmls Web
The Change Listing screen in Flexmls Web will keep all of the previous functionality, but it will have a new layout that responds to your screen size and has the same look and feel as the Flexmls Pro Change Listing screen. Note that the Price Change option is in its own section, so it is always easily accessible.

The design for the Status and Price Change screens will also be updated. Please note, all of the previous required fields and constraints will still apply–only the design is changing, not the functionality.

Status Change Example:

Price Change Example:

Why Are We Making This Change
The ability to change listings from your mobile device provides the convenience of being able to do more with your listings regardless of where you are or what device you are using. Updating the change listing, status change, and price change screens keeps the design and functionality the same across all platforms, keeping your user-experience consistent and familiar regardless of which platform you’re using.
