About

Dr. Huynh Thanh Tan is an expert working in the field of Psychology – Psychiatry. He is the valedictorian of the Psychiatry resident training program, graduated with Honors from the Internal Medicine training program, Master of Medicine and Specialist I in Psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Huynh Thanh Tan has completed intensive training courses in Psychopathology, Individual and Group Psychotherapy in the United States, France and Australia.

In addition to being a clinician, Dr. Thanh Tan is a former lecturer, undergraduate and postgraduate  academic affairs of the Department of Psychiatry, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Department of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Ho Chi Minh City), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and Van Lang University. The doctor has given training sessions on Mental Health Care skills for many school and business organizations (Oracle, Fulbright University., University of Natural Sciences…).

Currently, Dr. Huynh Thanh Tan is working at Vinmec Times City Integrated Mental Health Care Center as a Psychiatrist.

His treatment philosophy: “Each of us has difficulties and challenges in life, I am just luckier to have been trained with skills and have support tools to be able to cope with them”. I want to share these things with you, so that your journey will be less difficult.”

  • Specialized on Group of Patients: adolescent, young adults, middle-age, elderly people.
  • Assess and Diagnose mental health disorders: depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, psychosis (delusions and hallucinations), bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive, post-trauma, substance abuse, behavioral disorders in dementia, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, eating and sexual disorders,… 
  • Create Individualized Treatment Plan based on Medical Evidence :
  • Pharmacological treatment: medication selection based on personalization factors, side effects management, and adjustment based on treatment efficacy monitoring
    • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS): ultize magnetic field (safe, non-invasive) to affect certain parts of the brain, treating mental health disorders. Applied for patients who are not suitable for pharmacological therapy (ie. pregnant and lactating women), or pharmacological resisted patients.
    • Sleep medicine: treatment of sleep disorders by pharmacological and non-pharmacological measures. Using i-CBT therapy to help patients gain healthy sleep care habits. Use polysomnography and psychometric scales to assess sleep quality, actual hours of sleep, and detect causes of sleep disturbances.
